In this video the combat crew breaks down MMA Che's 3 points against BJJ in MMA.
Problem #1 highlights how the traditional full guard is becoming outdated in MMA, as wrestlers with BJJ knowledge can easily defend against submissions. However, it's important to note that submissions do occur in both BJJ and MMA. Problem #2 focuses on the style of BJJ used in MMA, questioning the relevance of playing full guard and suggesting alternatives like rubber guard, open guard, or a hybrid of BJJ and wrestling. We acknowledge that there are submission-oriented jiu-jiteiros in MMA, but winning solely by points or advantages is unlikely. Problem #3 highlights the difficulty of securing submissions in an MMA fight compared to a local tournament due to the different mindsets and stakes involved. We emphasize the importance of flawless technique and understanding the difference between submissions that can break versus ones that only cause pain. Lastly, we argue that not all SPORT jiu-jitsu strategies should be applied in MMA to minimize the risk of sustaining damage. Remember, in MMA, opponents can fight off joint locks, but once a choke is fully locked in, nobody can escape. MMA is not BJJ, but certain elements of BJJ can be effectively used to win fights and keep fighters safe.
